For the last few years, Words & Riddims has been an advocate for reggae dancehall music and culture. In 2015 alone, the blog collated a comprehensive list of tunes from both reggae & dancehall (bashment) music.

Now in 2016, the aim is to broaden the space further by dedicating a page specifically aimed at big hits across the entire black music landscape. Although reggae dancehall music will still be featured, you can also look forward to watching new video releases and hearing hit songs from across the Black music genres. Music from black America, the UK, Caribbean and of course Africa will all be featured!

New music styles to feature on the website include:
Jazz inspired by my holiday to Atlanta, afrobeats from the Motherland, grime music from home etc.

Also look forward to first class interviews from aspiring and pioneers within the music scene.

Rapect Fyabinghi  – #DappyFiDuppy (Official Dappy Diss Track) [UK grime]

In retaliation to UK white rapper, Daddy, using the word Nigger in late 2015, Raspect Fyabinghi has responded with what can only be described as pure fire!

Raspect explained his reasons for releasing the diss track saying: “Dappy disrespected every one of our ancestors who fought and died to stop White people from saying Nigger, and thought he could do this uncontested.

“If Dappy or any other White person were disgusted with slavery, regardless if Black people were using the word, they wouldn’t want to use it.

Even if it offends one Black person you would respect them, but as you can see Dappy has no respect for the fight of our ancestors, the struggle of our elders and so he has no respect for our people at a whole.

This is the reason I’m releasing this track, ‘Dappy Fi Duppy’.
In 2016 you can’t disrespect one of my people uncontested. Anyone who disrespects the culture and the community will be shut down, with no apology.” – Raspect Fyabinghi.

Nuff respect to Raspect Fyabinghi  – look out for a Words & Riddims interview later in the year!
